Configuring the add-on

Just because Autodesk owns all of the products we'll be using in this course, it doesn't necessarily mean that they all talk to each other. Most Autodesk products, if not all, need either object enablers, exporters or plug-ins to talk to one another. 360 Glue is absolutely no exception. What I'd like to do is glue a Revit model. Then we'll see if the Glue add-on is correct. Then we'll go get the correct one. But the first thing I want to do is kind of walk through the install order that I found works for all add-ons. What I like to do is install Revit first, then I install AutoCAD, and lastly I install Navisworks. The reason for this is, for the three authoring programs, Navisworks has exporters that we need in both AutoCad and Revit. Then I install 360 Glue. 360 Glue has exporters for the three above mentioned products. I'm going to jump into Revit, and I'm going to open up a model. Under Projects, I'm going to click Open. I'm going to browse to where I'm keeping my files. I'm going to open my architectural model. With my architectural model open, I'm going to go to Add-Ins. Now that my Add-Ins are here, and my BIM 360 Add-ons are here, which I'm happy about. So I'm going to click on Glue. I'm going to sign in. I'm just going to grab any project. And I'm going to click Next. I'm going to click Next here in this dialog. And I'm going to Glue it. Revit takes a second to think about it. Uh-oh. Server was unable to process request. You must update your BIM 360 add-in app to publish and share your models with BIM 360 Glue. The funny thing is, I just installed BIM 360 Glue on this computer yesterday. Alright, so what we have to do is hit OK. And I'm going to close out of Revit and log into BIM 360 Glue. So I'm going to sign in. Now I'm going to click the drop-down over here next to my picture. I'm going to go to Downloads. My Add-ins for Revit. I'm going to grab my 64 bit 2016, or whatever version you're using obviously. If you have other computers you need to configure, obviously you would do a Save As. This one, I'm just going to Open. I'm going to open it here. Now I'm going to run the Add-in for Revit. Make sure you have Revit closed. We'll click Next. You have to have Admin rights to your computer to install this. If you don't, you have to get IT to do it. You can download the executable file, you can just send it off to your IT department to install it for you, if you can. In a second, the status bar will show up. Click Yes for the Security Settings. Now simply click Finish. You can close out of Explorer. Now you can close out of Glue and start Revit back up. Repeat that for the other applications you have that need the object enablers for BIM 360 Glue. Alright, now we can go into Revit and glue some models.
