About NetworkManager

- [Instructor] Network Manager is a dynamic network control and configuration service that attempts to keep network devices up and active. The traditional ifcofg configuration files are still supported by Network Manager. Network Manager's installed by default in Enterprise Linux 7. There are four different tools provided by Network Manager used to configure network connections: nmcli, a command-line tool, nmtui, a simple curses-based tool that can be used on the command-line, Control Center, a graphical tool, and nm-connection-editor, a graphical tool that provides additional abilities that are not available in Control Center. Network Manager can configure network aliases, IP addresses, static routes, DNS information, VPN connections, as well as other connection-specific parameters. The Gnome desktop also provides a drop-down menu allowing us to interact and configure our network connections via Network Manager. Network Manager also provides and API via D-Bus, which allows applications to query and control network connections and state.
