- Now let's dig a little bit deeper on each one of these relational data offerings on Azure. Let's just start with SQL Server on an Azure Virtual Machine. If you have been using SQL Server on-premises, either physical or virtual, then there is no learning curve for you. The only difference here is that, in this case, the VM is hosted on Azure. Now, as we have discussed on the previous video, this option allows you to run a full version of SQL Server in Azure on an IaaS level. Therefore, without having to worry about hardware or cabling, but you're still responsible for patching, backups, licensing management, and so on. This is a good option for lift-and-shift scenarios, where you want to migrate your servers to the cloud with minimal amount of effort.
