Understanding analytics workloads
- [Instructor] Data in itself, doesn't add a lot of meaning to the business. It's important to understand how to transform this data into valuable insights to your organization. This is what analytics workloads are for. Data processing solutions often fall into one of the two broad categories, OLTP or online transaction processing and OLAP or online analytical processing. A transactional system or OLTP is essential for the day-to-day operations of a business. These kinds of systems record transactions, which are small in discrete units of work that needs to be executed or rolled back as a whole. For example, if you're transferring $100 from your checking account to your savings account that means you're subtracting money from one account and adding money to the other.
