Cell editing in the Effects tab - Battery Tutorial

- So let's jump into the Effects tab at the Cell Editor. I'm gonna load up our Scotty_Kit again. Alright, so let's go to the Effects tab. You'll notice that there are several sections at the bottom here, each of which need to be turned on in the top left hand corners to work. The first section is the Saturation tab. You can choose from three different kinds, Tape, Classic and Drums by clicking on the left and right arrows. (drum beats) Below that are the controls for it. (faster drum beats) (quieter drum beats) Now at the top to the right of the on and off switch is a little down arrow that you can click on that brings up a Preset menu. You can choose from several factory Presets or you can save your own by clicking on Save Preset and then naming it. After you do that, your Preset will always show up in the User Menu. So you can either load this way, by clicking on one here in the list or we can save it by going Save Preset and we'll just say Test. And now it'll show up in our User Menu. The next section to the right is Lowfi section. This is essentially a bit crusher. All of the controls are here below as well. (drum beats with distortion) The Preset menu works the same as the Saturation section. The next one is the Filter/EQ section. You can choose filters like Lowpass, Highpass, Bandpass and so on and so forth. With the filter controls at the bottom to make further adjustments. Let's play around with that. (muffled drum beat) Let's choose a Highpass. (drum beat going further up the scale) The EQ works a little differently with different settings for different bands. If you know how an EQ works then this should be a piece of cake for you to figure out. (drum beats quiet to loud) The next section after that is the Compressor. Now, this is a much more robust Compressor than the one in the Main tab. This gives you way more control over your Cell with familiar Compressor settings. You can even choose from three different Compressor emulations like Solid Bus Compressor, Classic and Pro. You'll have to play around with them to get a feel for what they do. (assorted drum beats) The last section to the far right is the Transient Module. This is an essential tool to get the right attack into your sounds, especially if you're Compressing them really hard. Sometimes the Compressor can take all the attack out so this is a great tool to dial some attack back in or conversely, dial some out if there's already too much and the Compressor can't get it under control. (drum beat muffled to clear) And that's how you use the Modules in the Effects tab.
