- [Instructor] Layout helps us block out our animation project in 3D, before we commit to actually animating it. Over the course of the next three videos, we'll cover the various aspects of the layout process. In this first video, we'll focus on using simple geometry to block out our scene, so we know what we need to construct later. Now, if you remember our storyboards, we had a very simple ridge for our character to climb up on, so that when she came to the top, she could face her opponent, and begin the fight. There's a lot of ways to build out scenes. You can go to websites like Sketchfab to download 3D models, or Blend Swap to grab free ones, or even Turbosquid. All these places have a vast array of 3D models, both free and paid for, to help you build out a scene. But, for the purposes of our project, we just need something really simple to block out what we're doing. I'm going to make a plane here in Maya, and hit R to scale it.
