- Before we begin texture painting, there's a few things we need to do to set up our interface to make it easier for us to work. The first thing I'm going to do is change from the cycles render engine to the blender internal. The cycles render engine is the newer and I think more realistic render engine. However, the texture painting tools in the blender internal are still more robust and user-friendly, I think. The next thing I want to do is change the way we view the shading in the view port here, so I want to press the N key on the keyboard to bring up our Properties panel, and I'm going to scroll down to the Shading area, and here I'm going to change from multi-texture to GLSL. That will just allow us to be able to see our paint in the view port. I'm just going to hit the N key again to close that panel, and now we need to add a light to the scene.
