Organizing and testing the UV map
- Up to this point we've been working on the model as individual separate pieces and I've done this simply because I think it's easier to work with as I create the UV maps. However, we're going to need all of these UVs on one UV map. So I think the easiest way to do that is just to combine all of the objects into one object, to join them. And to do that we'll use the Join tool. So I'll select everything here with the A key, and then I'll just press control J, and that will now make this all one object. So it has multiple pieces but it's all one object. I'll now hit the tab button and if we select everything we can see all of the UVs and it's a mess. I'm going to press the A key over here in the UV editor to select all the UV islands and let's take a look at this. I'm going to press control, up arrow, and we can see that all of these pieces are overlapping and we can't have that. We need all of this to be laid out in an organized non-overlapping way here within the UV editor. Well…
