In the last episode I presented an overview of the issues plaguing productivity in the construction industry. This time I want to start to break those issues down and look at the one by one. So let' start at the beginning and talk about the design phase. Now if you're a construction manager and you're thinking wait, this is a discussion for the architect, I'm going to say you're incorrect. Design a part of the construction process and in fact plays a huge role in a project's success. Design affects costs and project affordability. Design affects constructability on the site and those design documents that we use to build the project can be factor in determining how much downtime and rework that we're going to have on the job.
