- Hi, my name's Rich Harrington, and welcome to this course where we're going to explore batch processing. Batch processing is the act of getting lots of things done in less time. Usually, it refers to common tasks, like renaming files, or converting one graphic format into another, but it can also involve more complex things like resizing images, or even doing creative things to your photo. Now, this is not just a technique for photographers. If you're working in the business world, you're often given lots of photos, or if you're a web publisher or a marketer, you're going to end up with lots of different types of content that you often need to standardize, get it to a consistent size for display on the web, get it to the right color space, get it to have a certain look or a certain aspect ratio or size. All of those things can be done with batch processing. In this course, we're going to explore several different techniques. We'll start things out by walking you through some of the roles that batch processing can play. Then, we'll move on to talking about native built-in tools that you'll find on both a Mac or a PC, and this course will alternate between the different platforms and call out several tools that are available for both Mac and PC. We'll then move on to some dedicated tools that work for batch processing, taking a look at very complex and robust tools as well as simple ones, and again, we will take a look at some that work on both Mac and PC if you work in an organization that's a hybrid type group. We'll then take a look at an Adobe workflow, exploring common tools like Photoshop, Bridge, and Lightroom. This'll help you understand how to get things done quickly with multiple images. By no means are we going to go in-depth into Adobe software. There's lots of classes for that. But we're going to show you some of the hidden gems that allow you to take the edits from one image and apply it to others, or quickly set up a folder to be processed for new output results, and we'll explore the use of artificial intelligence, using a tool called Luminar AI, so you can easily adjust and create images that are very visually attractive, but that can actually adapt the look to every single image's needs.
