What can and can’t be done with batch processing?

- I'd like to set the expectations for what batch processing can do, and some of the things it can't really do. Batch processing is good for repetitive tasks. So things like renaming files, or converting from one file type to another, this is often a common issue because you might be given a folder full of images in all sorts of different formats, and then be asked to post those to the web. Additionally, sometimes depending upon our output methodology, whether it's web or print, we might have to do a color space conversion from something like RGB to CMYK or vice versa. The ability to batch process means it's simple to change information about the files, metadata, naming, et cetera, change the size or resolution, go in and modify the image. Some of these tools do have rudimentary creative filters as well, that allow you to blur or sharpen. Now, what automation can't do is usually allow for complex human interaction.…
