- So, what are the key terms of most work for hire or contractor agreements, and why do they matter? Let's explore the most common terms and conditions of these agreements and provide some insight into their importance. First, parties, who's hiring, who are you hiring? As we talked about in previous sections, all of the parties to a contract need to know exactly who the other parties are, to whom you're responsible, who is responsible to you. The key takeaway here is know who you're getting into business with. Two, term or delivery date. The term of a contract generally indicates the start and end dates of the agreement. Now, I've wrapped these two together, but please understand that often the date a contract is signed is not the same as the start work date.
