- By this point in the HRIS selection process, you should have made your mind up as to which vendor you would ideally like to go with. The vendor should now have sent over a proposed contract. As with any contract, you had better know what you're signing. Here are some items I want you to make sure you address in the contract. First of all, does the contract match what was set forth in the RFP? What's the length of the agreement? Remember, I suggest at least two or three years. Implementation timeline and cost. Is implementation supposed to start within two weeks of signing the contract and be up and running without bugs in three months? If so, how does that happen? Who pays for unanticipated delays or programming work? What are the HRIS performance expectations? This is where clarity is so important. Vague phrases like substantial performance allow a great deal of vendor wiggle room. Is there a specific uptime agreement such as an agreed upon 99.9% standard? Many contracts also have…
