Produce a request for proposal (RFP)

- At this point you should have completed a request for information, whittled down the list of vendors to your top three, gone on demos, researched reviews, and spoken to existing and former users of your top vendor choices. Now it's time to produce a request for proposal, otherwise known as an RFP. An RFP asks for a precise financial proposal from the HRIS vendor. I will note that some companies skip the request for information and go directly to a request for proposal. Personally, I don't recommend this approach. The RFI helps you to better prepare for your demos and eventually the RFP. If you google HRIS RFP, you can find numerous templates and actual RFPs issued, usually from public institutions and non-profit entities. While there's no set formula, an RFP usually begins with an introductory cover letter, including information about the company.
