From the course: Human Resources: Understanding HR Systems Features and Benefits

Welcome

- I recently read that 57% of companies plan to make a major new HR software purchase in the next 18 months, and many of those purchases will be HRIS systems. Human resource information system technology manages the data of the entire employee life cycle, from sourcing and hiring employees to managing payroll and benefits as well as career paths and training. As we'll learn, HRIS programs are growing in both number of vendors as well as program capabilities. Welcome. My name is Don Phin. I've been a California employment lawyer since 1983 and I actively litigated cases for the first 17 years of my career. Twenty years ago, I began a career helping companies to grow their bottom line focusing on three key aspects of HR excellence, compliance, strategy, and technology. In this course, we'll learn about the evolution of HRIS from where they began to where they are today. We'll walk through the various features and benefits that come packaged within an HRIS, and we'll look at the key administration aspects of HRIS systems, including records management, reporting, as well as support and training. Whether you work at a large corporation or a small company of 15 employees, learning the basics of how an HRIS can help manage employees and data is a must-have in today's HR culture. We've got a lot to cover, so let's get started.
