Welcome

- Human resource information system technology manages the data of the entire employee lifecycle, from sourcing and hiring employees to managing payroll and benefits, as well as career paths and training. I have recently read that 48% of HR talent professionals want to replace their current HR software with a cloud-based system. Of those surveyed, 54% say it's because they need better capabilities and functionality. Those companies who have made the move to new systems have seen a cost savings of 22% per employee. Because technology evolves at a ever-accelerating rate, HRIS programs are growing rapidly in both number of vendors, as well as program capabilities. There are more options today than ever before. Which is why knowing the right questions to ask at every stage of the buying process is incredibly important. Welcome, my name is Don Phin. I've been a California employment lawyer since 1983, and I actively litigated cases for the first 17 years of my career. 20 years ago, I began a career helping companies grow their bottom line by focusing on three key aspects of HR excellence: compliance, strategy, and what we'll talk about today, technology. In this course I'll walk through the factors that you need to be aware of in the HRIS selection process. We'll look at both the strategic and the day to day needs that you and your team will need to identify prior to starting the purchasing process. Last, I'll discuss the steps to decide on possible vendors, which platforms fit your company, how to do productive demos, how to create a request for proposal, and more. The HRIS you decide to purchase is a major technology and strategy decision. I hope by the end of this course you'll have a better idea of the steps to take in selecting and purchasing an HRIS system. We have got a lot to cover, so let's get started.
