- As we discussed, this primary's intended to introduce you to contracts and contract terms. It is not intended to take the place of consultation with a knowledgeable and experienced attorney. There are multiple reasons you should consider hiring counsel to help you navigate and negotiate you contracts. One, if your contract is for a significant dollar amount, two, if there are significant penalties for breach which is breaking the contract. Three, if you are contracting with a sophisticated partner. For our purposes here we'll consider a sophisticated partner to be a large corporation or someone represented by an attorney. And four, if you don't understand every single sentence of your contract. Don't be afraid to call an attorney. In many instances, you can hire a competent counsel to do a contract review for under a thousand dollars, well under a thousand dollars, depending on the turnaround time and complexity of the contract.
