- Did you know UPS drivers don't make left turns? Seriously. It's company policy that drivers don't make left turns in their delivery routes. Now prohibiting left turns may seem like a strange way to simplify, but this single decision had a huge impact. UPS reviewed the processes by which packages were delivered and discovered that by removing left turns from driver's routes, they could simplify delivery and increase efficiency. As a result, UPS saves 10,000,000 gallons of gas every year and reduces the average time per delivery. In this video, I'm going to suggest eight tactics that you can use to simplify processes in your organization, and find your own version of no left turns. The first tactic comes from Google, where they hold bureaucracy-busting sessions. During these sessions, employees are empowered to identify and remove barriers to their own productivity and efficiency.
