Techniques for purging and archiving
- One of the benefits of a paperless system is the extra storage capacity for all of your data. Unlike papers, a virtual storage system can hold a lot more information. This means less review and purging is needed. There may be times, however, when reviewing, archiving, and purging files are necessary. Some reasons are: To reduce storage space used, or to make navigating your virtual file system less cluttered. As a note, when talking about virtual files, purging generally refers to deleting. And archiving consists of moving files that are no longer as active to a file storage option that may not be as accessible, but is intended for long-term storage, such as an external hard drive or disk. A good review and purging system relies heavily on a good file and folder naming system. I talk in another movie about organizing and naming virtual files.
