- When you're organizing your workspace beyond cleaning, moving, and removing items, there is one other thing you can do to help you be more productive, and that is bringing in the right additions to your workspace. When I work with clients, their needs can vary greatly. They might need a tray to hold incoming papers to be filed, or a cup to hold their writing utensils. They might decide they need an ergonomically correct laptop stand to make sure they're not getting carpal tunnel, or they might need a specific holder for all their cables because they record a podcast right from their desk. The point is what you bring into your workspace can greatly affect your ability to get things done. A few points I want you to think about. First, you'll want to consider what would help you for your specific role. If you work on a team, look around at others to see what tools and items they're using.
