- In this lesson we're going to talk about advocating for others. Whether you lead a team of five or 50, I wager you can think of a moment where someone on your team could use help amplifying their voice and being heard. Here's a great example I experienced about advocating for others at a conference that I recently attended about equality in the workplace. There was a woman on the panel I attended in a C-suite position at an international food and beverage company. She was speaking about her first day on the job. She arrived for a leadership meeting and found the table in a U-shape formation. As the newest member of the team and as a woman, she self-selected to sit at the end of the U. A moment or two after she had settled in her seat, the assistant for her boss, the CEO, came and gently whispered in her ear, "You should be sitting at the top of the U "next to the CEO."
