- I recently started working with the local nonprofit that does amazing things in the community. Working with organizations like this is one of my favorite things to do, but whether I'm working with a large corporation or a small nonprofit, I always start the same way. I sit down with the director of the organization to get a sense of what they're looking for. Then I meet with each member of the team. This way, I'm able to assess the team as individuals and the team as a whole. Getting this fine grain look at your team is just as important as high level organizational insights for running a team strategically. There are a few steps you can take to get a good grasp on where you and your team are to prepare for a more strategic approach to leadership. First, pay attention to yourself.
