Attend trade shows and industry events
- You'd be amazed at how few people go to industry events with a mindset of making real connections. If you go to an event just to do your corporate duty, you'll never build a lifelong network of real relationships. You have to go with the intent of making connections. Don't go collect business cards. Don't go to make sales. Don't go to sit in a room and listen to speakers and panels. Meet the speakers, talk to the panelists, ask questions, be curious. Also remember that the real value of big industry events is not the event, but the stuff that goes on around the event.
