- I remember working for temp to hire agency in town. I was so excited when the recruiter told me my resume and experience was impeccable for the positions needed by employers. Over the next few months, I didn't receive any interest from employers, only interviews. It was quite frustrating. Finally, I got up the nerve to ask one of the recruiters what I would need to do to get one of the jobs. Their response was that my natural hair, even though neat in appearance, was considered unprofessional, and if I wanted to get the job, I would need to straighten with heat or chemically process my hair.
