Avoid taking over
- Have you ever had a boss or supervisor that came into help and they're helping look like them taking over. Bet you have, and I bet it didn't feel so good, did it? Now as a manager, I understand your desire to help, but I also know that when things are urgent or on fire, our reaction is to go in and do the work. Maybe you can do it faster. Maybe you think you can do it better. And guess what? As the manager, that's not your role. Remember that if we're managing and when we're managing for results, that we're trying to find the balance between how we make sure that we're getting the results we want with and through others.
