- When coaching anyone, particularly a new hire that you're just starting to get to know better, coaching has less to do with your most brilliant, innovative, original questions and more to do with simple, powerful followups. When coaching new hires three common mistakes might include: one, providing them with too many answers, never getting out of manager as expert for all things mode, two, missing opportunities for simple follow up questions, and three, too much intellectualizing.
