- The average tenure in companies used to be 10 years. It's now down to five and in technology it's three. So, what does that mean? There's this balance of being incredibly open and never closing a door on opportunity but also understanding that putting in time and loyalty, particularly to something you care about can be even more rewarding and so, how do you balance the two? When I think about never closing a door on opportunity, I think about that very much as you never know when you're going to meet somebody that you may work for some day, you may hire some day, or you may have as a client which means all your interactions can be incredibly important on how you show up and how you treat people. You also may never know that that person may call you in five years from now with an incredible opportunity for you to join their team or to take a leadership role in a company they may be funding.
