Being nice

Being nice

- So I hope that was useful information about how to ask for pay increase. Getting pay increases can make a big difference to your life if you can do it. But it's a tricky one, isn't it? Because if you don't ask, you don't get but also you really don't want to upset your boss. Unless you've got a really good plan B, then I think you've got to be very careful about asking for pay increases. I think the key is really to be nice, to say to them, but I love working for you. The work's fascinating, you're a great boss, I love the team. It's just that I need a bit more money to be able to pay for my mortgage or it's just that I know that some of my friends are being paid more. And I don't want to leave, I love it here. But if you could pay me a bit more, it would really be great. So I think the essence is to be nice, but strong underneath. So good luck. I hope you get that raise.
