- The next technique I'm going to walk you through is breathing from your diaphragm. So, at this point, you're standing on your spine, right? And you're making powerful eye contact. Now, it's time to think about where you're breathing from, because breathing is the precursor to making sounds and communicating your idea. Going back to theater, think about the time before electricity, performers standing on a stage without a way to mic their voice. How do current performers do it? Take Broadway performers, eight shows a week without experiencing laryngitis. It begins with where you're breathing from. We're going to talk about diaphragmatic breath, breathing from your diaphragm. Those of you who may engage in a yoga practice or a meditation practice will be familiar with the concept.
