Build belonging cues

- Have you ever observed a team where the connection is palpable? As part of my job, I've been lucky enough to see it in action many times over. And if you look closely, you'll find that it always comes down to lots of barely noticeable signals. In his book, "The Culture Code," Daniel Coyle, popularized this idea and named these signals, belonging cues. He defines them simply as behaviors that creates safe connection in groups. When you see a cohesive group doing their thing in real life, you'll see things like fist bumps, eye contact, turn-taking in conversation, intense listening mimicry, and polite, intentional gestures. Just as simple as saying thank you. It's as though the group is in a symphony where someone has tuned all the members to the same key and is conducting the flow of their behavior by tapping on these belonging cues, day in day out, creating an almost magical energy.
