Challenges and opportunities of leading global organisations

- When we step up to a global leadership role, we start to experience additional leadership barriers. Learning to overcome these barriers will help you develop new leadership skills and engage more distributed and diverse groups of people around the world. In this course, I'm going to cover the five key barriers to global leadership and how to address each one more effectively. We'll first discuss the effects of distance, which was the reality for global leaders even before the COVID-19 pandemic. We have a look at cultural differences, time zones, and communicating through technology and how each of these impacts our day to day work. And finally, we'll address our increasingly complex global operating environment where we'll need to network, exercise, influence and manage multiple teams, multiple bosses, and larger groups of stakeholders. I'm Kevin Hall, CEO of Global Integration. I've been leading international teams for the last 30 years. And since founding Global Integration, I've been training leaders around the world in global leadership, metrics management, and virtual working. As you can see, leading global organizations is a big step up in complexity for many of us. It can be challenging, but it's a great opportunity to learn a much broader set of leadership skills and perspectives. You may already be familiar with some of these aspects of leadership, others will be new. Most importantly, remember to be open to new experiences of learning and enjoy the role. So if you're ready to begin, let's get started.
