- There are some challenges with virtual teams that aren't as common on in-person teams. For one, it's more challenging to build rapport with team members. So, why not take some time to get to know each person? Find out what motivates them. What do they like to do in their spare time? What do you have in common? Let them get to know you as well. For example, do you make decisions based on data, gut feeling, analysis? This effort builds a sense of connection between you and your team. Also, it's good to have your one-on-ones via video chat. Seeing people makes it easier to connect. Make time to chat about things that aren't just about work. This strengthens that sense of relatedness and rapport. Another challenge is building a cohesive team. You can build a sense of team by meeting more often, like having a short 15-minute stand-up or scrum meeting each day to check on progress and see if there's any potential problems.…
