- This quote by John Cleese, British actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer beautifully sums up much of what I teach about creativity. He says, "creativity is not a talent. It's a way of operating." Exactly, being creative is not about talent it's about deciding to embrace and leverage what you already have and then exercising creative problem solving within that framework. However, you may believe the exact opposite, that qualities like creativity, talent and intelligence are fixed traits, permanent and unchangeable. If this is the case, then believing that one can grow and develop creativity will be incredibly difficult. In order to develop creative thinking, we need to look at what kind of mindset we have.
