- According to the CDC, 40% of adults reportedly struggle with mental health or substance abuse, and symptoms of anxiety and depression are at the top of the list. Whether your team is experiencing loneliness due to working from home, struggling to juggle multiple roles between work and home, or navigating a personal loss, it's never been more important to be a compassionate leader. While empathy is an important place to start, you aren't always able to empathize with a particular situation. You can, however, always employ compassion for your team. In this lesson, I'd like to share with you how to support your team in handling stress by checking in with them and modeling how you can let go of things you can't control. First, be an observer of each person on your team, including yourself. During your check-ins in a private setting, ask your employee how they're doing.
