- Everyone likes being complimented. It's just in our DNA. Even the grumpiest, most miserable people in the world will secretly like being complimented. Even the bad guys in movies would go soft if you said, "Hey, I really like how you're going for world domination. "It's so brave, and I really admire your grit." So, if our primary goal as salespeople is to win the trust of our prospects and make them open up to us, why wouldn't you compliment them at every opportunity? It shows more than just I'm trying. It shows you're paying attention. And it shows that you can see that they're of value. And that you're not just some salesperson trying to steal their money. You're a real person who wants to be their friend and also sell to them. So remember, sales is just making friends and helping them.
