- When you get rejected, you have to ask yourself who or what exactly rejected you. Is it someone that you admire and trust and respect, or someone who's sort of neutral or maybe someone whose opinion doesn't really matter that much? Now I'm not asking you to examine this with your ego in mind, ignore the inclination to think, "Oh, well that person doesn't even know what they're talking about so I don't have to feel bad about being rejected." Or, "Oh no, that person is my hero and they've rejected me and I'm going to have to take it personally forever." I want you to think about the source of who rejected you so that you can look underneath the story a little bit and find out more of the truth. I remember when I had applied for colleges, I got a rejection letter from one of them and I was so relieved because I hadn't wanted to go to that school. So it felt like we were rejecting each other.
