From the course: Bill George on Self-Awareness, Authenticity, and Leadership

Continue your leadership development

- At this point, you might be asking yourself, how do I go further into this? And I would be the first to acknowledge it's not an overnight process. It may take years to become the authentic leader you want to become. It's a process of human growth and personal development. It's no different than being an athlete or a musician. You have to practice your leadership every day, because it's about engaging yourself with the world, and the world you live in, the work world, the personal world, the family world, and seeing how you can become more authentic, more real, and develop your self-awareness. So, I encourage you to start out by picking up a copy of my book, "Discover Your True North", and along with the field guide, which goes with it, which has some great exercise in it. And just taking on some of those exercise, or get a small group of friends and work your way through those exercise and give each other feedback. I think that's a very good place to start, and then start practicing these things in the workplace, at home. And I think you'll find that people really respect you as a person who's trying to become more authentic leader, a more authentic human being, and a person who really cares about other people. And when you do that, I think you'll be well on your way to a lifetime of greater fulfillment and greater happiness, and the realization that you can fulfill all your dreams by being real.
