Creating a shared workspace for remote workshops

- The most important part of a workshop is collaborative thinking. You've assembled all of these wonderful brands and you want to spend as much time as possible putting them to work on your task. Your videoconferencing software may already have collaborative workspaces built in. If that works for you, brilliant. But I prefer to use a separate piece of software for this. Both Google Docs and Microsoft Word are a pretty good option. They let you see what people are doing in real-time, so you can see if attendees need some extra help. Let me explain how I use them. I prepare a full document in advance, with short summaries of each of the exercises and formatting to make it easy for people to add their thoughts, and then create another document that will be the shared document that we're going to work from.
