Data silos

- There is a ton of value in combining your data sources, but unfortunately this can be quite a challenge. Especially if you work in a large organization that has many departments that are scattered all across the globe. This data disconnect is often called a data silo. Oftentimes these organizations will have some sort of center of excellence that tries to wrangle all the different organizations' data into a singular usable format, but this is a huge task. Even if you work for a smaller organization, this task is still challenging. You need to find a way to join data sources together which requires a common field that exists in both data sets. This common field is often called a unique identifier, and it enables you to see specific customer patterns across multiple data sources.
