- Oh how nice it's going to be to have a coworker pop into your office and say, hi, maybe shoot the breeze about your weekend. Yeah, that's until it's not so nice, and it keeps you from being productive. The novelty of having people pull you into meetings and ask you just one quick question will wear off very quickly I suspect. It's important that you set some boundaries for distractions. Do this now, before you, and they get into bad habits. How about having open office hours? Kind of like your professors did in college. That way coworkers will know when it is totally fine to disturb you. Here's a trick that I've been using for years, and anytime I bring it up in a corporate training, everybody loves it.
