- Imagine if you said to your boss, "The office is too cold, I'm not happy, I'm cold. I don't like this, I'm too cold." Is that going to get you a good result? And the answer is not really. Obviously if your boss cares, then they're going to want to help, but your boss may not even care about whether you're cold or not. So how do we get a better result? And clearly we need to ask for some sort of a solution. We need to say to the boss, "I'm cold and I want a fan heater. It's only 20 pounds. Please, will you buy me a fan heater?" It's much easier then for the boss to sort the situation out. Even if they don't particularly care about you they're still going to think, "Ugh, I'll spend 20 pounds and this problem will be sorted."
