- Now we come to the final part of this negotiation with our boss, the bargaining phase. So they've said you can have three weeks, you've said that you want six weeks, what's going to happen next? So the first bargaining rule is move in small steps. And this absolutely applies. Don't say, well, I want six but I suppose I could do it in three. You want to say, I want six but I could maybe come down to five and a half if this happens. So if you want to move in small amounts 'cause otherwise you're giving away precious weeks of your holiday. The next rule is questioning and listening. And I think this is really big when you're dealing with your boss. So what is their objection? Why won't they let you go for six weeks? If you can find out the objection you can probably handle it.
