Extend your influence
- As a true leader, you make things better for others. You give and you expand your ability to contribute. You grow and the more you grow, the more you can give. So to extend your influence, focus more on learning more, especially in two ways; learn from the best leaders you've ever met and never met. First, leaders you've met. Cultivate learning relationships with leaders you admire. I'll share something I learned from a transformational former executive at Nike and Hall of Fame college basketball coach, Coach George Raveling, who prevailed through eras of racism and injustice in his long life and career. In his mid-80s, he said, "Each day we can turn our wounds into wisdom." And every morning for the last 40 years, when he wakes up, he asks himself, "You have only two choices; to be happy or to be very happy, "which is it going to be?" He also said, "I want to make sure "that every day I have positive personal growth."…
