Find your trigger to elevate curiosity

- If you're like most people, there are times when you would like to be more curious. Especially in hindsight. I wish I would have thought of that, asked that, questioned that. There are times when we wish our colleagues or team members were more curious. Why didn't you think of that, question that, ask that? Here's the good news. Curiosity is like a muscle. Anyone at any time can learn to flex, exercise, and build the curiosity muscle so it's there for us where we need it. The foundation of building curiosity is to elevate it. It requires making a mental swap. So when someone or something triggers immediate criticism, judgment, fear, or complacency, swap the order and start with curiosity instead. Starting with curiosity doesn't make you less judgemental. Instead, it can make you more accurate in your judgements. A client described a situation on the floor of her hospital.
