- The first time I attended a super-large industry conference, I got extremely lost at the event center. I was way too embarrassed to ask for help, so I just decided to pretend like I knew what I was doing and was determined to waltz right into the room with the conference logo outside. Turns out there was a meeting taking place with the executive event staff. So with my brazen "I belong here" attitude, all chairs swiveled and all eyes met mine. I immediately slammed the door without a word and pretended to check an email on my phone, which then resulted in security interrogating me as to why I didn't have a conference badge and what I was doing hovering around.
