- Who doesn't love being needed? It's the best. It can be completely validating, and sometimes even serve as a motivator for you. But to quote the timeless 1996 classic, "Jerry Maguire", "Help me help you." Help me help you free yourself from striving to be needed, and reframe demonstrating your value in other ways. Value, not values. It's about what you bring to the world. And in a professional setting, it's about the unique contribution you bring to your work. Whether you're just starting out, or you've been in a role for awhile, one of the biggest traps to avoid is measuring your value in terms of fixing things for other people. This lesson is about fixing the fixer, identifying your fixer tendencies and reframing the way you demonstrate your value. The origin of my fixer tendencies was wanting to be likable and helpful.
