- Change is unpredictable, but our reaction to it isn't. The associated uncertainty makes us uncomfortable. We're trapped in feelings of, it's not fair. We fear that we'll lose what's associated with a change or we feel a lack of control. But the one thing we do have control over is our mindset. Leaders inserting change must be climate creators, fostering a mindset that helps employees thrive, not just survive. Let's see how. For sure, it starts with role modeling the right things. Of course, being calm and transparent, clear, courageous and empathetic. Equally important is helping employees adopt the right mindset in the face of change via three tools. Number one, the change choice. When faced with change, we must make a fundamental choice that determines if we'll struggle or succeed in the face of that change.
