And the big picture is, even if you're furloughing people or laying people off, the goal is to help as many people as possible keep their jobs. That's the best thing you can do to keep your frame of reference in the right space. As for the people who get laid off or furloughed, the best thing you can do for them is to offer to give them a good reference and help them find another job.
