- There's no getting away from it. Just like an artist needs their paints, and their brushes, and their canvases, or a mechanic needs a box of tools, to make fun and engaging videos, we are going to need some kit. We're definitely going to need a camera. And we're going to need to keep that as steady as possible too, which points towards the need for a tripod. We're going to need to make sure the lighting is as good as it can be, and often playing second fiddle, but arguably most important of all, we have to make sure our microphones are capturing crystal clear sound. As with any profession, we choose what we want to spend. Big budget, small budget, they both have an impact on the look of the finished thing. Now, at the lowest end of the spectrum, I've already mentioned, I'm a big fan of phones. They're right down at the lowest end.
