- Being a leader is lonely work and doing it remotely is even lonelier. Now, you're here because you want to be a better leader and one of the best ways to get better is to get great feedback, helpful feedback, from those most impacted by your behavior. And that's your team. Here are some tips to help you get better feedback. First, trust is a huge component in getting feedback. If your team members don't trust you, it's not likely they're going to give you feedback, and let's face it, people don't always trust their boss. So we've got to continually work on building trust, so that there'll be open to giving us feedback. Second, if you want something, ask for it. Ask for the feedback and explain why you want it. "Hey, I've been trying to work on this and I'm not sure it's going very well. Can you give me some input on how that's going?" Third, ask open-ended questions. If I say, "Did I do that okay?"
